So the day finally came when I decided to act on that conversation.
I have been having that want-to-do-something-different
feeling since New Years,
and I thought I'd try them in the Entry above my white console.
You see, I've had this issue with gray and tan.
I wasn't sure that they would work together,
but I thought I'd give it a shot.
I think I like them together...
The white helps balance them out.
I moved my round white mirror to the other wall.
I'll see how long this stays like this,
but for now...it's satisfied my urge to make a change.
What kind of changes have you made since New Years?
joining in on these great parties!

I've had my reservations about gray and tan too...glad to see it can look wonderful! Great job!
I wouldn't have thought the gray and tan would work, but you're right; the white makes the difference! It looks lovely.
What an interesting arrangement. The shutters look perfectly at home here, love the way the colors play off each other too. Nicely done :)
Love this idea!!! I too love shutters and sometimes I spot a few at Thrift stores but never buy b/c I don't know what to do with them~~~~ Now I do!
I love it, Debra! They look beautiful there!
This looks great! Wonderful job.

I've been hesitant to mix gray and tan, also. I see wonderful pictures of the combination, but I'm pretty timid about that mix. You have done it very successfully. Maybe I should try! Sally
Pop up window and I am able to comment if you see this! Love the shutters and sometimes I am sooo glad I didn't sell something in my garage... this would be one of those things! I think they look awesome!
Yup, you're good to go now, Debra! : )
Love the shutters here! They work so well size wise and I love how you did the shelf under the table.
absolutely beautiful!! Thank you for the inspiration!

They just add that much more dimension to your space. Beautiful table!
looks awesome! I love grey with just about anything!!
I think it is a good look. The picture hanging on them really adds to the overall look.

I have one old white shutter that I love, thanks for sharing yours, looks great with the white! Love the picture hanging on it!
I love old shutters too. I have one (yes not the pair) that is a steel blue and chippy all over. When I saw it I fell in love. It is currently in my bedroom, but I always feel that there is somewhere better for it. Still waiting for the answer. I love what you did with yours.
Have a great day and thanks for sharing your inspiration.

The gray shutters add a casual feel to the arrangement. And I do like the gray and beige together.
Love the entire presentation. The layers upon layers of amazing stuff make for such a warm, lux look!
I love the shutters!
love it keep it
You definitely just proved that gray & tan look WONDERFUL together. Beautiful, Debra!
Debra,
The gray & tan work. . .for me! Lovely with all the white and layers of textures! This is a gorgeous post! For the New Year, I've been working over my dining area and the cupboards! Updated looks coming soon!
Fondly,
Pat
I'd say the shutters MAKE this group, otherwise it would just be any other console table vignette. The white pops right off the gray backdrop with the great texture. You've chosen accessories very wisely by paying special attention to details that would coordinate and complement each other, such as the bird picture (tan, white and grey), the metallic of the lamp and shade decoration, silver trim around the clockface, silver trays & terrarium below, even the little blue-grey flowers mixed in the planter. The three neutral colors of grey, white and tan are a beautiful combination here and the accessories are not too matchy- matchy. Very pleasing to the eye and professional looking. Clean, crisp and gorgeous. Gongrats on a great job, Love it! Warm Hugs,
i really love the gray, white and tan together, debra! beautiful table!
Debra I love those gray shutters and love the bird print you have hanging from them! That whole area looks beautiful!!
Beautiful ... how happy you must be that you kept them.
Fondly,
Glenda
Loving those gray shutters! After all I've been in a gray mood all year! I'm loving the gray around my house!

The gray shutters look great w/ the taupe-ish paint. I'm still looking for the perfect taupe (even though everyone else seems to be painting their walls gray). The bird print looks perfect combined w/ the shutters and the white flowers are gorgeous. If they're faux, they look real! Happy Weekend!
See...they just thought we were crazy. Sometimes it pays to listen to the voices in your head. I.love.it!

P.S. I've been having trouble with blogger for about a week. It's not the comment box...it's the whole darn thing. It loads but stupid blogger won't let me scroll...grrr!
The gray shutters are wonderful. The bird print is the perfect touch. I love the whole grouping. You are a very talented lady. Happy weekend.
It looks great. Luv the contrast. On the show WHAT NOT TO WEAR tan & gray would always go together becoz they are both neutrals. You've proved it to be true. :)
I love how you used those shutters! I used to think the same thing about gray and tan, but they actually do work together well. As a reminder to that fact, you can look at the Patina Style book cover. It's so pretty and those are the colors used.
Debra, the shutters absolutely make this vignette....simply stunning!
I love the grey and beiges and browns together~must be a trend in decorating from restoration hardware industrial kind of palette that is going on~it looks really fresh! I used that same palette in my office. The white table with the grey shutters looks great!
PS I meant to also say I had to go to the pop up window too because of commenting issues...
It really looks great. With the details of silver/pewter peeking out of lamp it ties in with the shutters well.
Then the added bonus of all the little brown, textural wicker components under the table, it makes it sing!
Good job ! It makes a wonderful, different and most importantly unexpected backdrop for the table, which by the way is gorgeous...
Gorgeous Display Deborah!
They make a gorgeous backdrop Debra! And you are right...the white is a good balance!
It's your choice of the perfect gray that makes this so spectacular. LOVE it and your courage to act :)
The gray shutter looks wonderful. I love the decor on the bottom shelf too. Great job!
Girl, it looks fabulous!! LOVE IT!!

They look absolutely fantastic! I'm glad you decided to listen to them. They really belonged there. Gorgeous.
The shutters look great there. I like the contrast of the grey against the white, and the straight lines with the ornate table. Nice.
Love the shutters and the whole look of this area for that matter Debra!~ I am pinning this so I can copy you= hope you don't mind=some of us just have a tough time being original!

I love your gray shutters. They look perfect on your table.

I can comment again! Thankfully! Your little help fixed the problem on my end. I love your console, by the way, just enchanting! Tan and grey are wonderful compansions. There are several blogs out there who, after about Jan 1, I was unable, and am still unable, to comment. I emailed them about the 'comments being embedded in the post' like you said, but I don't think they have done anything yet b/c I still cannot comment. andrea@townandprairie
Debra, lately I have been loving grey and tan together. I guess it's a reflection of what I am seeing outside now that it is winter. the sky is much more grey than blue lately and the trees are certainly not green but an earthy tan or grey. there is something very soothing and neutral about these two colors together. I love the shutters there in your entry.
Love your shutters and the way you have them displayed now! So glad you decided to do something with them.
Thanks so much for sharing then at Knick of Time Tuesday!
Blessings,
Angie @ Knick of Time

I think it looks amazing~the gray shutters caught my eye because I had just painted a custom order for a girl using them for her wedding escort cards~she wanted gray with distressed white and they turned out great!! I love what you did!

i love the shutters. And I really like grey and tan together. My living room walls are a color called linen from Restoration Hardware which is a camel sort of color and I am thinking of hanging grey linen curtains. Thanks for the preview.
